Hurray!) I don't remember thinking "stalker" or "boring." I was vastly entertained by the world being created.

I was considerably less enchanted with Edward as the series continued. I'm not really a series reader, I'm a romance reader. That was part of it. Also, I found the werewolf mythology much more interesting than the vampire mystique.

As a high school English teacher, I've seen firsthand the power these books have to draw in reluctant readers. And I've loved having these kinds of conversations with my students!

So thank you, Stephenie Meyer! I would never want to get dental with Edward. But I wouldn't mind if some of your writing mojo rubbed off on me. :)Kate Diamondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00987438202240646062noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14733381.post-45444178907209353182009-07-31T11:05:15.043-07:002009-07-31T11:05:15.043-07:00Stalker. Does the current popularity of Twilight and stalker-hero books parallel in some way the popularity of "Old Skool" romance tales of imprisonment and less than empowered heroines in the '80s? Is it something that arises every twenty-five or thirty years? Personally I skipped the Twilight series after a friend said "you'll feel fourteen again." Double or triple no thank you.Anna Richlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06758472429790528680noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14733381.post-16789074183038545822009-07-26T17:59:46.136-07:002009-07-26T17:59:46.136-07:00Um...I thought about it rationally...and he's ...Um...I thought about it rationally...and he's a stalker.Anneliese Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00389340053893292833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14733381.post-71289197204916089132009-07-26T04:45:29.860-07:002009-07-26T04:45:29.860-07:00Creepy stalker trying to convince someone to leave...Creepy stalker trying to convince someone to leave everything she knows to join his family because it's so cool.
